The New York Jets are turning back the clock by adding Arizona alum Nick Folk to their roster.
The 40-year-old Folk played seven seasons for the Jets from 2010-2016, where he became the franchise’s second-leading scorer. Folk is entering his 18th year in the NFL .

Folk will compete with former Missouri kicker Harrison Mevis for the starting job.
Jets coach Aaron Glenn addressed the signing Tuesday, calling Folk a “very established kicker in the league.”
“When you go back and you look at his stats from the last couple of years, man, they’ve been above board,” Glenn said. “And I’ve said this from the beginning: Anybody that can help us win games, man, we’re going to take a look at that.”
In his previous stint with the Jets, Folk converted on 175-of-213 field-goal attempts. In the 2010 NFL playoffs, he delivered a game-winning kick in the AFC Wild Card game, giving the Jets a 17-16 win over the Indianapolis Colts.
Folk spent the last two seasons with the Tennessee Titans. In 2023, he posted a career-best 96.7% (29-30) conversion rate on field goal attempts.
Folk enters the 2025 season ranked 14th all-time in NFL career field goals with 403.
Ravens’ Tyler Loop in position battle
Elsewhere in the AFC, former UA kicker Tyler Loop is showing uneven results at the Baltimore Ravens training camp.
Loop missed from 43, 38 and 45 yards on Monday, according to a report from The Athletic.
Ravens coach John Harbaugh was asked if Loop wearing pads affected his performance.
“It’s a good question because Tyler mentioned that to me yesterday,” Harbaugh said, according to Sarah Ellison of RavensVault. “He goes, ‘Oh, that feels different.’ So I do think its different. “They [the kickers] probably should come out here everyday in pads because that’s how they do it in the game.”
There’s no doubting whether Loop has the leg strength to compete in the NFL. He made a 68-yard field goal over the weekend.
