The Arizona Wildcats are halfway to another Pac-12 series win.
The UA used a 7-run fourth inning and eight strong innings from Chase Silseth in an 8-5 win over USC on Friday night at Hi Corbett Field.
Silseth (6-1) allowed five runs on eight hits, striking out four and walking one. He allowed two solo home runs, the first giving USC (18-14, 6-7) a 1-0 lead in the top of the fourth and the other to start the top of the ninth.
It was a great bounceback after the sophomore righty lasted only 1.2 innings in last Friday’s 21-2 loss at Washington State.
Quinn Flanagan picked up his fourth save with a scoreless ninth.
Down 1-0, Arizona exploded for seven in the bottom of the fourth. Daniel Susac got things going with a 2-run homer, then Donta’ Williams and Branden Boissiere followed with RBI singles, Mac Bingham added a 2-run triple and Jacob Berry completed the scoring with an RBI groundout.
Williams added a solo homer in the eighth to make it 8-4. He finished 4 for 5 with 2 RBI.
Arizona and USC meet again Saturday at 6 p.m. PT. If the Wildcats win either of the remaining to games it will have won five consecutive Pac-12 series.
