After six seasons at Arizona, Alyssa Palomino-Cardoza isn’t ready to hang ‘em up just yet.
The All-American centerfielder has signed with the USSSA Pride, an independent pro team based in Viera, Florida that plays the likes of Team USA, Team Mexico and Team Canada among others.
The Pride’s season began on May 28 and runs through Aug. 7. Also on the roster is former UA catcher Chelsea Goodacre.
Palomino-Cardoza hit eight homers with 35 RBI in 2021. For her career, she hit .346 with 69 home runs in her career, eighth most in Arizona history. That despite the fact she tore both ACLs during her UA career—her right one before the start of her true freshman season in 2016, and her left one right before the 2017 postseason.
Fellow UA seniors Jessie Harper, Alyssa Denham and Dejah Mulipola also have pro opportunities ahead of them. All three were selected in the Athletes Unlimited draft in May while Mulipola will also play for Team USA in the Tokyo Olympics this July.
