Schmitt, who plays at Evergreen High School in Vancouver, Wash., is a very athletic, big-bodied tight end. He has a nice frame, 6-foot-5 and 225 pounds, that is perfect to add more muscle and good weight to. He is quick for someone his size and is quite the weapon in the passing game, able to be in-line or a mismatch in the slot. Besides finding holes in the defense, he is very good at making catches in traffic, showcasing many such cases as a junior. He will need to add strength, to go along with the muscle needed for a tight end at the Power 4 level. His blocking will also need work as well, especially dealing with some of the quicker defensive ends he’ll face in the Big 12.
Schmitt has six reported offers and committed to Boise State in early May. He flipped to Arizona after his official visit this weekend. He has an upcoming official to Boise this weekend but it is unknown if he is still making the trek.
He is ranked as a 3-star in 247Sports’ internal and Composite rankings. Internally, 247 has him as the No. 144 athlete and the No. 24 player in Washington. In the Composite, Schmitt comes in as the No. 1,379 player nationally, the No. 99 athlete and the 14th-best player in the Evergreen State.
His stats appear to be incomplete for his junior season. Still, according to Maxpreps, he notched 196 yards on 15 catches and five touchdowns in six games.
Schmitt is the second commit, and tight end, from Washington, joining Henry Gabalis. He’s the 11th overall in the 2026 recruiting class, third to commit on Monday.
