New Arizona Wildcats coach Jedd Fisch has already shown the ability to work the NCAA transfer portal in his favor, landing commitments from four transfers in the past few days while also convincing several UA players to withdraw from the portal.

And now he has his first pledge from the high school ranks in the form of a prospect with a pretty good pedigree.

Isaiah Taylor, a defensive back from Fort Lauderdale, Fla., announced on Twitter he had committed to Arizona for 2021. He picked the Wildcats over offers from Illinois, Kansas, Maryland, Minnesota, Missouri, Syracuse and Vanderbilt.

The 5-foot-11, 195-pound Taylor is the son of Jason Taylor, a member of the NFL Hall of Fame who played defensive end for 14 seasons, mostly with the Miami Dolphins.

Not currently ranked by 247Sports, Isaiah Taylor played safety for national power St. Thomas Aquinas in Fort Lauderdale, helping his team win its 12th state title last month. As a senior, Taylor had 28 tackles and two interceptions, including a 100-yard pick-six in early December.

Taylor becomes the 19th member of Arizona’s 2021 recruiting class, not including transfers, with 15 signing in December.
