Arizona is very much in the market for a point guard for next season. The top-rated uncommitted 2021 prospect at position just happens to play his prep ball up the road in Phoenix, and now he has the Wildcats among his top college choices.
TyTy Washington, a 4-star point guard who plays for Phoenix’s AZ Compass Prep, has Arizona in his top six along with Baylor, Kansas, Kentucky, LSU and Oregon.

The 6-foot-3 Washington, ranked as the third-best point guard and the No. 31 overall player in the nation by 247Sports, had previously been committed to Creighton before backing off that pledge in mid-March.
Arizona currently has no point guards on its roster after both James Akinjo and Kerr Kriisa entered the NCAA transfer portal since the school named Tommy Lloyd as head coach, though one or both could still return. Potential ball handlers Jemarl Baker Jr. and Terrell Brown Jr. have both already transferred, ending up at Fresno State and Washington, respectively, while of the three high school guards Arizona signed in November the only one that could potentially play the point—KJ Simpson—reportedly asked for his release from his scholarship after Sean Miller was fired.
The only guards the UA currently has on its roster are Bennedict Mathurin and Dalen Terry, but both are 6-foot-7 and more wings than on-ball players.
