Section 7 in Phoenix has hosted 160 of the best high school basketball teams from the West over the past two weekends, giving college coaches a chance to recruit some of the region’s top prospects.
The Arizona Wildcats extended an offer to at least two of them—2023 point guard Kylan Boswell of Corona, California’s Centennial High School and 2022 shooting guard Collin Chandler out of Utah’s Farmington High School, according to their social media pages.
The 6-foot-1 Boswell is unranked in his class—it’s too early to rank 2023 prospects—but he already has offers from schools like Kansas, Texas, USC, UCLA, Illinois and Texas Tech.
A four-star recruit, Chandler is the No. 72 recruit in his class. The 6-foot-4 swingman also has offers from BYU, Stanford, Utah, Utah State, Creighton and Dixie State. He told Travis Branham of 247Sports that academics are important to him when looking at schools.
“I know basketball won’t last forever,” he said. “So getting a good education and going where they want me, where I’m going to play and where I feel the most comfortable and at home.”
247Sports analyst Brandon Jenkins provided this scouting report about Chandler:
“Chandler is a competitive guard who always plays in attack mode. He is still a baby physically but has great length, burst, and solid skill. He beats defenders off the rip or bounce with an excellent first step. A plus athlete who has bounce and is more athletic than he appears, he thrives in transition and enjoys attacking the rim when the lanes are available. He shoots it off the catch or dribble and has the ability to knock down the three-point shot when left open. He still needs to improve his handle on the ball versus high pressure but Chandler will likely thrive in an up-tempo system with his play style and has good long-term upside.”
2022 point guard Milos Uzan still on Arizona’s radar
The Las Vegas native was offered by Arizona a year ago, but they remain interested him despite the coaching change.
“I had a Zoom with him when he first got in office,” Uzan said of Tommy Lloyd (via AllSportsTucson). “He seems like a cool dude. I haven’t really had much conversation with him besides that. I talk to Murphy and Coach Terry. … It’s more just like how I’m doing and I’m really just trying to keep in touch with them. I feel like they haven’t seen me play in a long time, so definitely this right here (Section 7) is good for them.”
Uzan, a four-star recruit, also has offers from other Power-5 schools like USC, UCLA, TCU, Texas Tech and Washington State. He said he wants to go to a school that will allow him to play with freedom and where he can build trust with the coaching staff.
