Arizona soccer has some big shoes to fill in the midfield with the departures of Megan Chelf and Nyota Katembo after their final year of eligibility. Whitney Reinhardt may be in the running to fill those shoes.

The attacking midfielder from Notre Dame Prep in Scottsdale was named the 2024-25 Arizona Gatorade Player of the Year last week.

Reinhardt had a spectacular high school career for Notre Dame Preparatory. She accounted for 46 career goals and 23 career assists. During her senior year, she found the back of the net 18 times and set up her teammates 11 times. She played club for Phoenix Rising FC.

She led her high school team to the 5A state title last fall on her way to 2025 Conference 5A Player of the Year honors. She also led them to the quarterfinals of the Open Division State Tournament. She was an all-region selection all four years in high school.

Reinhardt was among the players Top Drawer Soccer designated Winter High School Girls Stars to Know last January and ECNL Phoenix Spring U17 Players to Watch the year before. She made the ECNL Southwest All-Conference U16 First Team in 2022-23.

Reinhardt has been committed to Arizona since March of 2024. She joins a class of six incoming freshmen for the Wildcats. Other signees include midfielder Leilani Cortez-Ramirez (San Jose, Calif.) from ECNL Bay Area Surf, forward Kyleigh Johnson (Forney, Tex.) from Solar ECNL, forward Mireya Stephenson (Marietta, Ga.) from NASATophat, defender Thaleia Tsintikidou (Encinitas, Calif.) from San Diego Surf, and midfielder Amiya Warner (Las Vegas, Nev.) from Las Vegas Heat Surf.
