Arizona softball has been cleaning up in the Pac-12’s freshman awards this season with centerfielder Regan Shockey winning her third last week. This week, the Wildcats won their first Player of the Week award when Olivia DiNardo was honored for helping the team to a 4-1 record.
DiNardo hit .500 (6-for-12) and had a slugging percentage of 1.250 in the team’s five games last week. She hit three home runs, scored five runs, accounted for four RBI, and had 15 total bases.
DiNardo started at designated player in three games and made two of this season’s rare appearances behind the plate in the other two. She helped the team win the three-game series against No. 22 Oregon over the weekend and sweep a doubleheader against New Mexico State on Mar. 9.
She had a home run in three of the Wildcats’ four wins over the week. She had a solo homer in game one against NMSU, a two-run home run in the opening-game win against Oregon, and another solo shot against the Ducks in the final game of the series.
DiNardo has now won Pac-12 Player of the Week twice in her career. Last season, she won both Player of the Week and Freshman of the Week on Mar. 6.
