New Mexico beat out San Francisco, Kansas State and Boise State for the 6-foot-9 forward. Borovicanin has two years of remaining eligibility.
The Belgrade, Serbia native played sparingly in two years at Arizona. Borovicanin averaged 2.3 points and 1.6 rebounds in 20 appearances as a sophomore, playing 5.6 minutes per game.
Despite seeing limited opportunities at Arizona, Borovicanin is a proven scorer for his age at the international level. At the 2023 FIBA U19 World Cup, he averaged 14.1 points, 7.3 rebounds and 2.7 assists in seven games for Serbia. He recorded three double-doubles.
Borovicanin’s defense lagged behind offensive skills, which is a big reason why he didn’t see more playing time at Arizona.
Borovicanin is the second former Wildcat to play for New Mexico in as many years. Last season former Arizona point guard Jemarl Baker Jr. played for the Lobos.
Four Arizona transfers from the 2023-24 squad have now found new homes: Oumar Ballo transferred to Indiana, Kylan Boswell transferred to Illinois and Paulius Murauskas transferred to Saint Mary’s.
