The last time Terrell Brown Jr. played at McKale Center, against Washington, he had arguably the worst performance of his short run with the Arizona Wildcats. The next time he plays in Tucson, it will be as a member of the team he last faced there.

Brown announced Thursday on Twitter he has committed to play next season at Washington, marking a homecoming for the Seattle native.

Brown averaged 7.3 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game in his lone season with the Wildcats, starting 10 of 26 contests including the home finale against the Huskies when he was 1 of 11 from the field and finished with 2 points. UA coach Sean Miller said afterward he thought Brown was trying too hard to have a big game on Senior Day, particularly with his family in attendance.

The 6-foot-3 guard came to the UA as a graduate transfer after two seasons at Seattle University, where as a junior in 2019-20 he averaged 20.8 points, 6.2 rebounds and 4.8 assists while leading the nation in 2-point field goal attempts. The godson of UA assistant Jason Terry, Brown also played at Shoreline Community College in Seattle and prepped at Seattle’s Garfield High.

Washington was in desperate need of a playmaker in the backcourt with guards Nate Pryor, Erik Stevenson and Marcus Tsohonis all entering the NCAA transfer portal. The Huskies went 5-21 this season, including 4-16 in Pac-12 play.

Brown is one of three players to leave the UA since the season ended March 1, with fellow senior Ira Lee opting to use his extra year of eligibility granted by the NCAA elsewhere. On Thursday it was reported that redshirt junior guard Jemarl Baker Jr. also intends to transfer.
