The Dallas Mavericks selected the former Arizona Wildcat with 18th overall pick of the 2020 NBA Draft. Green becomes the 73rd Arizona Wildcat to be drafted and the 24th to go in the first round.
The Aussie averaged 12.0 points, 4.6 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.5 steals per game in his lone season at Arizona. He shot 42.4 percent from the floor and 36.1 percent from behind the arc.
Green was once a projected lottery pick, but fell in the mock drafts over the last several months.
A five-star recruit and McDonald’s All-American out of high school, Green grew up Down Under before relocating with his family to Phoenix as a teenager. He originally enrolled at Mountain Ridge High School, then transferred to IMG Academy in Florida.
Listed at 6-foot-6 with a 6-foot-10 wingspan, Green is a versatile wing who could step into an important role for the offensive-minded Mavericks, especially if he becomes more consistent with his 3-point shot. Green is regarded for his tenacious defense, athleticism and ability to get to the rim. He also flashed some creative passing ability at Arizona, especially in transition.
