
A surprise push to the Big 12 championship didn’t carry over for Arizona in the NCAA regionals.
The Wildcats finished in eighth place at the Lubbock Regional, falling three spots why of qualifying for nationals later this month in California.
The UA carded a 3-day score of 28-over-par at The Rawls Course at Texas Tech in Lubbock, Texas, shooting +2 on Tuesday. The seven schools that finished ahead of Arizona were all under par in the final round.
Julia Misener was Arizona’s top individual, finishing at +3 to tie for 14th place. Nena Wongthanavimok was +7, good enough for a top-25 finish.
Under first-year coach Giovana Maymon, who was named Big 12 Coach of the Year, Arizona won its first conference title since 2015 by beating out ASU and Oklahoma State in a playoff.
The UA men’s golf team is set to compete in the Amherst Regional in Virginia next week.
