One milestone was achieved for Arizona by reaching the NCAA Tournament once again, but the others will have to wait.
The Wildcats saw their 2025 season come to an end Friday morning in Charlottesville, Va., falling 4-1 to Illinois in an opening round match hosted by the University of Virginia. The UA finishes with a 19-11 record, making consecutive NCAA tourneys since 2011-12.
Arizona got off to a great start by taking the doubles point from Illinois, and three of six singles players won their respective first sets. But sophomore Martina Ostrzygalo was the first to lose their match, falling in two sets, with senior Midori Castillo-Meza and Danielle Tuhten both falling in three sets before No. 1 singles player Josie Usereau lost in a third set to clinch the match.
The Wildcats are still seeking their first NCAA tourney win since 2012 but are set to return seven of their top nine players in 2026 for coach Ryan Stotland.
