The redshirt senior has been a major force not only on her team but in the sport this year. After sitting out with an injury last year, she has blown past her previous stats both in the circle and the batter’s box.
Netz ranks ninth in the country in strikeout-to-walk ratio (5.44) and walks allowed per seven innings (1.00). Her 19 pitching victories are 18th. On the offensive side of the game, she is 22nd in Division I with 58 RBI and 24th with 17 home runs.
Netz has a career low ERA of 2.11. Her 19 wins are already a career high, surpassing the 16 she had as a junior in 2023. She has walked just 18 batters in 126 innings over 30 appearances. Her low for a full season is 40 in 171.1 IP in 2023. Opposing batters are hitting a career-low .207 against her.
On offense, her .359 average, 35 runs scored, 51 hits, 8 doubles, 17 home runs, 58 RBI, 15 bases on balls, 7 hits by pitches, .775 slugging percentage, and .437 on-base percentage are all career highs. She has appeared in 48 games as an offensive player, slightly below the 50 games she played as a junior. She has just three fewer at-bats than she did in 2023.
Netz is also locked down on defense, whether pitching or playing first base. She has a perfect fielding percentage. She has also been part of 15 double plays.
She threw her first perfect game this year, joining 10 other Wildcats who have accomplished the feat. She also hit a home run in the contest, becoming the first Wildcat to do both in the same game.
The list of finalists will be pared down to 10 on May 14, then cut to three on May 19. The winner will be announced before the Women’s College World Series, which runs from May 29 through June 5 or 6.
