Five-star 2025 prospect Brayden Burries commits to Arizona

April 10, 2025 by Zags Blog

By SAM LANCE

Tommy Lloyd is building one of the most elite high school recruiting classes in the country at Arizona.

Just 13 days after landing five-star forward Koa Peat, the Wildcats have added another top-12 talent. This time, it’s five-star guard Brayden Burries.

Burries — the 6-foot-4, 200-pound guard from Eleanor Roosevelt (CA) and the Team SFG Nike EYBL AAU program — chose the Wildcats over his other finalists of Alabama, Oregon, Tennessee and USC. During the McDonald’s All-American game festivities, Peat seized the opportunity to deliver his pitch to Burries. It’s paid off.

“The key factor was just the trust with coach Lloyd and the staff,” Burries said on SportsCenter. “He’s been on me for about three years now. And I just felt like he lets his guards play and his play style I feel like it fits me perfectly. I feel like he’s going to get the best out of me.”

Burries was the top guard still available in the 2025 class and ranks as the No. 11 overall prospect in the country by 247Sports. He’s known for his shooting and scoring prowess, averaging 29.7 points, 8.8 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 2.9 steals per game during his senior season. Those standout numbers earned him the California Gatorade Player of the Year award. The guard also guided Eleanor Roosevelt to a 35-2 record and a CIF Open Division state title. He capped off his high school career with a record-breaking 44 points in the championship game.

This is now the fourth time in Arizona history two McDonald’s All-Americans will be joining forces as freshman. The last pair to do it was Josh Green and Nico Mannion in 2019. The following season, Arizona finished 21-11 under Sean Miller.

Burries and Peat will be joined by four-star small forward Dwayne Aristode and Bryce James, the younger son of LeBron James, on Arizona’s 2025-26 roster. The Wildcats have a loaded class.

“We are going to have one of the best freshman classes coming in,” Burries said. “We have a chance to make some deep pushes in March Madness. Just stay tuned. It’s going to be great for sure.”
