
Switzerland is Wildcat Country.
Coached by one and led by another, Arizona-led Team USA beat Germany 109-76 on Sunday in the gold medal game of the FIBA U19 World Cup in Lausanne. The American squad went 7-0 in the tournament, winning by an average of 39 points with five games decided 20-plus.

Incoming UA freshman Koa Peat had 12 points and nine rebounds to earn his fourth international gold medal. Peat, who averaged 12.6 points and 6.9 rebounds in the World Cup, previously won tourneys with Team USA at the 2022 and 2024 U17 World Cup and the 2023 U16 FIBA Americas Championship.
It was the second gold medal for Tommy Lloyd, who last year coached the U18 squad to the FIBA Americas title. Also on the Team USA staff this year was Wildcats assistant Rem Bakamus and team trainer Justin Kokoskie.
AJ Dybantsa, who is set to play at BYU in 2025-26 and is projected to be the No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft, had 11 points in the gold medal game and was named tournament MVP. Fellow Team USA member Mikel Brown of Louisville made the all-tournament team as did Germany’s Christian Anderson, who will be a sophomore at Texas Tech.
