Schedule TBA

Following its Eugene Regional title, Arizona took a pair of planes home to Tucson on Monday afternoon. Each flight had a connection, and during those layover the Wildcats found out who and where they would play in the Super Regionals.

Arizona (42-18) is headed to Chapel Hill to take on No. 5 North Carolina next weekend in a best-of-3 series for a spot in the College World Series. Officials dates, times and TV info will be released Tuesday morning.

The Tar Heels (45-13) finished off its regional Monday afternoon with a 14-4 win over Oklahoma after the Sooners forced a second game with a win Sunday night. Had Oklahoma won the regional the NCAA would have chosen between Norman and Tucson for the Super Regional site, with Hi Corbett Field likely their preference based on the stadium’s capacity as well as less threat of inclement weather.

Storms could be an issue in North Carolina, as there is at least a 30 percent chance of rain every day next weekend, with the possibility for thunderstorms on Saturday and Sunday.

UNC is hosting its second straight Super Regional, beating West Virginia (which won the Tucson Regional) 2-0 last June. The Tar Heels won the ACC Conference Tournament title this season and entered the NCAA Tournament ranked No. 1 by D1Baseball.com.

Arizona and UNC have played five times, the last in 1990 when the Wildcats played in the Carolina Invitational in Chapel Hill and won 3-2. The Wildcats lost to the Tar Heels in the same event a year earlier, and in 1985 took 2 of 3 in a series at Sancet Field.
