Arizona fans waiting on Carter Bryant to make an announcement on his future will need to wait a little longer.

The Wildcats forward is expected to test the NBA Draft waters, Arizona men’s basketball coach Tommy Lloyd told the Arizona Daily Star on Thursday. Lloyd added that Bryant has signed a revenue-sharing agreement to return to Arizona next season if he remains in college.

“I fully expect him to test it, and we support him testing it,” Lloyd told the Star’s Bruce Pascoe. “He’s gonna test the NBA draft, and he’s going to make the best decision for himself.”

Bryant is projected to a first round pick in the draft but most mock drafts don’t have him as a potentially lottery pick. Bryant could improve his draft position by returning to Arizona for a sophomore season, but he also runs the risk of injury or hurting his draft chances if he underperforms as a sophomore.

The 6-foot-8 wing averaged 6.5 points and 4.1 rebounds as freshman in 19.3 minutes per game.

Bryant’s decision is the last major puzzle piece in putting together Arizona’s 2025-26 roster, after the return announcements of Jaden Bradley, Motiejus Krivas, Tobe Awaka and Anthony Dell’Orso, the transfer portal pickup of Harvard’s Evan Nelson and the signings of Koa Peat, Brayden Burries and Bryce James.

Bryant has until April 26 to declare for the draft and would have until May 28 to withdraw. The draft combine runs from May 11-18.
