Editor’s note: With several sports going on, Wildcat Wrap serves as a recap that focuses on the Arizona programs that we do not have the time to cover on a regular basis but are certainly worthy of recognition.
It’s time to start taking Arizona seriously as a tennis school.
The Arizona Wildcats men’s and women’s tennis programs received NCAA Championships bids on Monday.
The Arizona men are the No. 9 overall seed and will host an NCAA Regional at dates to be determined. This is the second consecutive year Arizona will host a regional, and like last year, it will open the tournament against Boise State.

Boise State is coached by Luke Shields, the brother of Arizona head coach Clancy Shields. Last year Arizona defeated Boise State 4-0.
The winner of Arizona – Boise State will face the winner of Pepperdine versus Auburn in the second round.
Arizona is seeking to advance to the NCAA Round of 16 for the second straight year.
The Wildcats are 27-3 on the year and coming off a Pac-12 Championships title.
The Arizona women, meanwhile, received an NCAA Championships berth for the first time since 2014. Arizona will travel to College State, Texas where it will take on Oklahoma in the first round. The winner will play the victor of No. 14 seed Texas A&M versus Texas A&M Corpus-Christi in the second.

Arizona enters the NCAA Championships with a 17-12 record.
Women’s golf
Women’s golf will compete next week in the NCAA Las Vegas Regional as the No. 3 seed.
Arizona is one of 12 teams competing at the regional, which runs May 6-8 over 54 holes at Spanish Trail Country Club.
“You prepare and practice all year to play your best golf in May,” said head coach Laura Ianello. “Staying out west is an added benefit for us, but we know that NCAA Regionals are about taking what you’ve learned and grown from all fall and spring and playing your best golf.”
Arizona is coming off a sixth-place showing at the Pac-12 Championships.
Men’s golf
Men’s golf had a disappointing show at Pac-12 Championships over the weekend, shooting 75-over par across three rounds to finish 9th out of 12 schools.
Even with the poor display, Arizona is likely to receive a solid draw when NCAA Championships selections are announced Wednesday.
Arizona, ranked No. 9 in the most recent coaches poll, is a No. 2 seed in the West Lafayette Regional in a bracketology published by NBC Sports.
Arizona has four top-five finishes this spring.
