Editor’s note: With several sports going on, Wildcat Wrap serves as a recap that focuses on the Arizona programs that we do not have the time to cover on a regular basis but are certainly worthy of recognition.
The Arizona men’s tennis program has grown its reputation under coach Clancy Shields with postseason success, and more lately, individual achievement on the professional tour.
Arizona’s Zoran Ludoski is the latest Wildcats player to find success as a pro – while still in college. Ludoski, who finished his freshman season at Arizona this May, won his first pro tournament this past weekend in his native Serbia. Ludoski won a men’s singles tournament on the Serbian Tennis Tour.

Ludoski is coming off a standout freshman season. He quickly cemented himself in Arizona’s singles lineup, and finished the year as one of three Arizona players ranked nationally in the ITA men’s singles rankings.
Ludoski will be Arizona’s second-top returner season behind rising senior Jay Friend.
Friend and partner Carl Emil Overbeck won doubles at M15 Amstelveen in The Netherlands this past weekend.

Friend finished the year as the No. 9 ranked singles player according to ITA. He is poised to take over Colton Smith’s spot at the top singles court.
Arizona added to its 2025-26 roster with the signing of Pepijn Bastiaansen from The Netherlands. He is ranked inside the ATP Top 1,000. Bastiaansen is the only known signee for the upcoming fall. Arizona was expected to retain most of its underclassmen from last season.

Beach volleyball
Arizona beach volleyball announced the hiring of Emilia Guerra-Acuna as an assistant coach under Steve Walker.
Guerra-Acuna just finished a four-year career at Boise State, where she registered 86 career wins, the most in program history.
“Emilia is a proven winner and team leader,” Walker said in a statement. “She is a great role model for aspiring young athletes, bringing high character, discipline and a strong work ethic to positively impact those around her. We are delighted to welcome her to the Arizona Beach Volleyball program and she will be a great addition to our staff.”
Guerra-Acuna should give Arizona a strong recruiting presence in her native Texas.
