KANSAS CITY – Class of 2023 five-star power forward K.J. Evans will announce his college decision in August, as first reported by ZAGSBLOG.

Evans, the 6-foot-9, 200-pound big man from Montverde Academy (FL) and the Team Durant AAU program, has a final four schools list consisting of Auburn, Oregon, Kentucky and Arizona. He broke down each option at the Nike EYBL Kansas City session:

Auburn:

“Family system. The system there fits me pretty well. The people there are really good. Just all around a good place for anybody to go to. They have a great coaching staff and are very welcoming.”

Oregon:

“Dana Altman, he’s been recruiting for the longest. He’s a good guy. Excellent coaching staff. Oregon is also a place where I really fit. AlI these schools fit me well, that school fits me really well and I like the people there, the relationships, stuff like that.”

Kentucky:

“Pedigree. Blue blood. John Calipari can bring anybody in. He’s sent people from my position to the league and stuff so it’s really good to know he’s recruiting me.”

Arizona:

“Tommy Lloyd, we have a great relationship right now and I feel like he wants me to be great there. It doesn’t matter what it takes, he wants me to be great in what I do.”

Bruce Pearl, Dana Altman and John Calipari were all spotted courtside during Evans’ games. Altman stood right behind the basket for the entirety of Evans’ Saturday contest against the Indy Heat AAU program. Arizona was also represented courtside for several of Evans’ games.

Evans has taken official visits to all four of his final choices. He said he will commit to the school that fits him the best. He also mentioned he’d like his college choice to be welcoming, value relationships and push him to elevate his game.

Evans is the No. 8 overall player in the class of 2023, per 247Sports. He showed why he’s a highly touted prospect at the NIKE EYBL Kansas City session, averaging 13.6 points, 6.2 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game. He said his versatility and ability to do it all at his size is what separates him from other prospects.
