The move is just one in a long line of moves that the Coyotes have made this season as they embark on a full rebuild.
General Manager Bill Armstrong wants to get this rebuild right, which means starting at the draft and working out from there. That means getting exceedingly terrible, so their own first-round pick is worth more, and acquiring as many extra first-rounders as they can, so they get in younger, better players. And this move helps them with both goals.
The Coyotes drafted Christian Dvorak 58th overall at the 2014 NHL draft. He has proven to be an underrated center, and in 302 games with the Coyotes, he has 67 goals and 79 assists.
Along with Dvorak, the Coyotes have also seen the departure of Oliver Ekman-Larsson, Conor Garland, Adin Hill, Darcy Kuemper, and Antti Raanta. As a result, the team will undoubtedly look very different when they take the ice next season.
What do you think of the deal? Do you think the Coyotes could have gotten more for Dvorak? Who is coming to play center next season? Comment below.
