The Arizona Diamondbacks have agreed to terms with nine of their selections in the 2022 MLB Draft, the team announced on Tuesday.
The signings include four of the D-backs’ highest picks.
That’s No. 2 overall pick Druw Jones and No. 34 overall selection Landon Sims, as well as the 43rd overall pick Ivan Melendez and 82nd overall selection Nate Savino.
Sims, a right-handed pitcher from Mississippi State, agreed to terms on Tuesday. Melendez, a first baseman from the University of Texas, signed like the outfielder Jones did on Saturday. Savino, a left-handed pitcher out of the University of Virginia, agreed to terms on Tuesday too.
Shortstops Andrew Pintar (BYU) and Adrian Rodriguez (Puerto Rico Baseball Academy & High School), outfielder Brett Johnson (Southern Illinois University Edwardsville), catcher David Martin (California Baptist University) and right-handed pitcher Logan Clayton (University of Houston) were the five other draft picks to agree to terms with the D-backs.
That leaves 12 unsigned 2022 draft picks as of the date of the release from the D-backs. The top selection amongst that group is right-handed pitcher Dylan Ray out of the University of Alabama, a pick in the fourth round.
