The season series is on the line in this lunch edition of D-backs baseball.

The D-backs have the edge in the season series against the Mets, but it’s only 3-2, with today the final game between the two teams. It may not matter at the end of the year: if the season finished today, the Mets would win the NL East, rendering their series against us irrelevant. But all D-backs fans were scarred by the way the 2024 season ended, and this has rendered tiebreakers considerably more important in our heads. A win this afternoon would mean if that situation was repeated, we would have the edge. A loss would make it a season tie and… The next criteria is each team’s record within their division. Right now, the Mets are 9-4 against the East and we are… um, 0-0 versus the West. Thanks, schedulers.
That’s about all I’ve got time for today (that pesky “paid employment” thing getting in the way – like I don’t have better things to do!), so I’ll just drop in Torey Lovullo’s pre-game update below.
Some Diamondbacks health updates from Torey Lovullo:
-Justin Martinez will begin his throwing program today.
-A.J. Puk is still in the treatment phase.
-Corbin Burnes threw a bullpen today.
