Scheduling has been a little weird this week, with no day games during the week – even on get-away day for the Giants’ series yesterday. But there is an afternoon contest Saturday, as well as the usual on Sunday. I hope I remember to post the Gameday Thread tomorrow. I fully intend to be in the ICU suffering from an overdose of hot-dogs. Hope you all are having a pleasant Independence Day, whatever that may entail in your location. Me, being British, I’ll be sipping tea and sighing heavily. 🙂 It feels weirdly like a Sunday, perhaps because we spent the morning in a very Sunday-like fashion. Which would mean, in bed, watching Miami Vice and Dark Winds.

Another series which could potentially define the Diamondbacks’ position as we approach the trade deadline… but probably won’t, just like the Giants’ series ended up leaving the needle in virtually the same spot. It was the very definition of two steps forward, two steps back. I kinda wish the team would simply be one thing or the other. Either make a surge, and give us something to cheer for the rest of the way, or flop and just leave the remainder of the schedule to be an exercise in determining who’ll be of use in 2026 and beyond. This year’s Diamondbacks appear to have commitment issues, in the areas of team competence and success. “Do or do not. There is no try,” to quote a great philosopher.

I’ll cut this short, because those pork products aren’t going to grill themselves, are they? Again, have a good day, stay safe, and here’s to a suitably pyrotechnic game.
