“Gloomily” would be a good way to put it.

Welcome to SB Nation Reacts, a survey of fans across MLB. Each week, we send out questions to the most plugged-in Arizona Diamondbacks fans, and fans across the country. Sign up here to join Reacts.

According to the latest SB Nation Reacts survey, 21 percent of Diamondbacks fans are confident the team is headed in the right direction. That’s down from 26 percent to start the season. A part of that lack of confidence comes from dark feelings about the team’s ability to score. Diamondbacks fans are generally down on the Arizona offense.

However, it has to be said that overall, the team’s issue has not been on the run-scoring side of late. Arizona has delivered free tacos (* with the purchase of a large drink, etc.) on five consecutive days, averaging six runs per game on the first homestand of the season. That has already matched the best home tacos streak of last season (August 5-16). The offense definitely picked it up at Chase. Here’s how the team’s home/road splits stack up:
Home: .263/.366/.431 = .797 OPS
Road: .209/.270/.364 = .634 OPS

The Diamondbacks’ mediocre start in general probably didn’t come as much of a surprise to fans around the league. But according to fans around Major League Baseball, 28-year-old Chicago White Sox rookie Yermin Mercedes red-hot start at the plate was the most shocking outcome of the season’s first week.

Mercedes earned 42 percent of the vote, beating out the slow start by Atlanta which took 23 percent, the Baltimore Oriole’s hot start took 18 percent while Los Angeles Angels star Shohei Ohtani’s two-way success took 9 percent.
