Kevin McCanna got the ball first, pitching two innings in what turned out to be a bullpen game. McCanna was wild in the first inning, walking and hitting a batter, but settled down in the second, allowing a lone hit that unfortunately ended up in the stands. Fortunately for McCanna that was the only run he allowed. Matt Gage pitched a quick. perfect inning in the third, striking out one. Carlos Navas struck out one in a scoreless fourth inning, though he allowed a hit and a walk. Alex Young pitched a two scoreless innings in the fifth and sixth, with a pair of hits allowed, and struck out three batters. Keury Mella struck out a batter in a scoreless inning of work in the seventh inning. Jeremy Rhoades had rough outing in the eighth inning. Rhoades allowed a lead off solo homerun to begin the inning, then hit a batter. He struck out the next batter, but followed that up with another hit by pitch. After a mound visit, Rhoades walked the next batter to load the bases. A sac fly would score a runner, and thankfully, Rhoades would get a pop out after that to end the inning. Brandyn Sittinger struck out a batter in an easy 1-2-3 scoreless ninth.
On the offensive side of things, the Aces scored a run in the first after Ben DeLuzio walked, advanced to second on a ground out, and scored on a Jamie Ritchie single. Stuart Fairchild hit a solo homer in the second to give the Aces a 2-0 lead going into the second. After Kevin McCanna coughed up a run in the bottom of the inning, the Aces answered back with four runs in the top of the third. Ildemaro Vargas singled to lead off the inning, and scored on the Seth Beer doubled that followed. There was an error by Tacoma’s 2nd baseman on the play, but I am unsure how that factored into the play. Jamie Ritchie would go down on strikes next, but Henry Ramos homered, scoring Seth Beer. Christian Lopes kept the inning going with a walk, and scored the fourth run of the inning, after back to back singles by Stuart Fairchild and Jose Herrera. The Aces added two more runs in the fifth inning, after Henry Ramos walked and stole second, Stuart Fairchild walked, and both advance to third on a groundout. Camden Duzenack then came through with a single, scoring both.

Bryce Jarvis got the start and was excellent in his seven innings of work. Jarvis allowed just one run on five hits, with that lone coming via the long ball, and struck out eleven batters. Mack Lemieux followed with a scoreless and hitless eighth inning, though he did walk a batter while striking out one. Newly acquired Keegan Curtis pitched a perfect 1-2-3 ninth inning, getting the first batter out on a bunt out, the second batter on a lineout, and directly fielding a ground out to end the game.
Amarillo got on board in the fourth with two runs thanks to a Stone Garrett single that was followed up with a Renae Martinez two run homer. The team from Amarillo would add two more runs after a Osvaldo Abreu singled, Alek Thomas walked, and Luis Aleja. ro Basabe doubled, scoring both.
Basabe’s double and Martinez’s home run were the only extra base hits in the game.
Alek Thomas was 1-3 with a walk and scored a run, though he was caught stealing. Jancarlos Cintron was 2-3 with stolen base, and the only Amarillo batter with more than one hit. Buddy Kennedy was 1-3 with a walk. Geraldo Perdomo was hitless but did draw walk.

Taylor Widener had a rehab start, and had a rough first inning thanks to a single, followed by a stolen base, which was then followed by a pair of wild pitches, and then a throwing error by shortstop Roman Ruiz. Widener ended up going four innings, with four runs allowed on six hits, three wild pitches, and one walk, while striking out six. Justin Vernia pitched the next four innings, with one run allowed on four hits and a wild pitch, while striking out three. Yaramil Hiraldo relieved Vernia in the ninth after an injury Delay, and pitched a scoreless and hitless ninth inning; Catcher Nick Dalesandro had a foul pop out error in the ninth. Dalesandro had an interesting game to say the least. He went 1-2 with two walks, two stolen bases, was caught stealing, and in addition to the foul pop out error, was charged with catcher’s interference.
After Widener’s wild first inning, Hops thankfully were able to score four runs. Spencer Brickhouse and Tristen English took back to back free bass, and Yerzy follow that up with a single, scoring Brickhouse. Eduardo Diaz then homered, scoring Yerzy and English. Nick Dalesandro would then walk and steal second but got caught stealing third.
The Hops added two more runs in the second inning after Cam Coursey doubled and advanced to third on a wild pitch. After Roman Ruiz struck out, Jorge Barrosa was hit by pitch, and a passed ball later Barrosa was standing on second and Coursey had scored. Spencer Brickhouse would fly out, advancing Barrosa to third. Tristin English then singled, scoring Barrosa.
Hillsboro added another pair of runs in the third, after back to back singles from Eduardo Diaz and Nick Dalesandro and a wild pitch put runners on second and third with no one out. Reece Hampton followed with a third straight single, scoring Diaz and Dalesandro, but was thrown out trying to turn the single into a double.
That was it for the scoring for the Hops. Almost every batter reached base at least once, aside from Roman Ruiz, who had a rough night, going 0-4 with three strikeouts. Aside from Ruiz, Jorge Barrosa was the only batter to fail to get a hit, although Barrosa walked and scored a run. The only batter aside from Ruiz to fail score a run was Reece Hampton, who was thrown out at second when he reached base. Overall a very interesting box score and game, and it’s worth thumbing through the play by play in the linked box score.

Austin Pope went five innings and allowed five runs on seven hits, three walks, and a wild pitch, though he did strike out seven. Pope was hit hard, giving up three doubles to go along with a three run home run. After two scoreless inning with two walks and two strikeouts from Josh McMinn, Harrison Frances followed with another rough outing. Frances allowed four runs on three hits, with two walks, three wild pitches, and a hit batter, with a a two run home run in the ninth to cap it all off. Alex Valdez had to get the final batter out in the top of the ninth, the only batter he faced.

Tyler Gilbert got the start, going 4 2⁄3 innings while allowing four runs on nine hits (including a HR), a walk, while striking out a pair. Matt Gage relieved Gilbert with two on and two outs, and got the final out of the fifth. Gage unfortunately ended up going just 2⁄3 of an inning. Gage ended up allowing three runs on four hits, two of which were doubles. Edgar Arredondo relieved Gage with one on and one out, and got of the inning without the runner scoring. Arredondo pitched 1 2⁄3 scoreless innings, with just a walk allowed. West Tunnell pitched a scoreless inning in the eighth, allowing a walk while striking out a batter.
The Aces failed to record an extra base hit, and no Aces batter had more than one hit aside from Camden Duzenack. Duzenack went 2-4 with a stolen base. Jose Herrera was 1-3 with a walk. The only other batter with a hit was Juniel Querecuto, who went 1-4 and scored a run. Christian Lopes was hitless but reached base three times, thanks to a pair of walks and hit by pitch. Drew Ellis and Seth Beer were both hitless, but walked once. Henry Ramos was hitless, but reached via a hit by pitch, and stole a base. Jake McCarthy failed to reach base, but knocked in a run via a sacrifice fly.

Matt Tabor got the start, and was the victim of some poor defense behind him from third baseman Buddy Kennedy (fielding and throwing error) and centerfielder Dominic Fletcher (throwing error). Tabor pitched 5 2⁄3 innings, with three runs allowed (all unearned) on six hits and for walks, while striking out six. Tabor notably had nine groundball outs to just two fly ball outs. Mitchell Stumpo got the final out of the sixth inning, and pitched a scoreless inning in the seventh, with just one walk allowed while striking out three out of four batters he faced. Levi Kelly pitched a scoreless inning in the eighth, with a wild pitch and a walk, while striking out one. Ryan Weiss struck out the side in the top of ninth with 14 out of 11 pitches going for strikes. Amarillo’s offense was pretty poor in this one. Amarillo got on board first in the bottom of the fifth, Luis Alejandro Basabe doubled with one out, and an out later, Mikey Reynolds was hit by pitch putting runners on first and second for Tra Holmes. Holmes would single scoring Basabe from second, but Geraldo Perdomo flew out to end the inning. The three run inning in the top of the sixth would put Amarillo down 3-1 going into the bottom of the ninth. Dominic Fletcher homered to lead off, but Stone Garret struck out, Renae Martinez popped up to third, and Buddy Kennedy struck out swinging to end the game.
Dominic Fletcher was the only Amarillo batter with more than one hit, going 2-4 with the aforementioned solo homerun in the ninth. Luis Alejandro Basabe’s double was the only extra base hit aside from Fletcher’s HR. Amarillo failed to draw a single walk in the game, and had only six hits total.
