Opposing Teams Runs are Mantiplyin’: Dbacks 6, Giants 10

The Dbacks rolled out a new look lineup vs the Giants ace Lefty, but the pitching could hold the Giants as they scored 10 runs.

The Arizona Diamondbacks havent won consecutive games since April 30- May 1st, and unfortunately that trend continued tonight for the Dbacks in San Francisco.

The game started off about as well as you could hope as the offense got out to a quick 3-0 lead in the first inning off of the Giants ace Robbie Ray. Eugenio Suarez got the scoring started with a double scoring Corbin Carroll, and Josh Naylor followed that up with single to CF that scored 2 more Dbacks.

Unfortunately for the Dbacks, the usually so consistent Brandon Pfaadt who came into the game tied for the major league lead in wins absolutely had nothing working for him in this game. He really started spraying the ball around in the second inning walking 2 and loading the bases for the 9 hole hitter Christian Koss. Koss promptly unloaded the bases on a sinker that was a foot inside, his first career home run.

The offense then did what they seem to do frequently this year and went completely quiet until the 7th inning when Corbin Carroll lead off the inning with his 14th home run of the season tying him for the major league lead with big boppers Aaron Judge and Kyle Schwarber.

In the 8th, the Dbacks would load the bases with singles from Gurriel and Tawa and a walk from Jordan Lawlar in his first major league game of the season brining Ketel Marte to the plate. As soon as people may have gotten a glimmer of hope with the bases loaded down 3 in the 8th, Ketel proceeded to tap the first pitch of the at bat harmlessly back to the pitcher for an inning and rally ending double play.

However it wouldn’t have really mattered if Ketel had hit a grand slam as Joe Mantiply continued to be the MVP of opposing teams in 2025 surrendering a 3 run home run and a couple hits in the bottom of the 8th inning opening up the lead to 6 runs going into the 9th inning.

The box score appears closer than the game really felt thanks to a 2 run home run in the 9th inning by Josh Naylor, his 4th RBI of the game.

The good: The Dbacks were able to showcase a new look to the lineup, especially vs the left handed starter going with Tim Tawa in CF and Jordan Lawlar at SS. Tawa looked very solid out there in CF making a couple plays moving back on the ball in the ginormous CF of oracle park. This could be a huge shot in the arm for this team and for Tawa if he continues to show he can handle both infield and outfield and be a super utility type especially with how he can handle the bat going 3-4 in this game.

Kendall Graveman also made his first appearance in MLB since 2023 and could be a huge shot in the arm for a very thin Dbacks bullpen. Graveman looked ok spraying the ball around a little bit and issuing a walk, but hopefully an outing to build off of.

The bad: The pitching as a whole tonight for the Dbacks was just bad giving up 10 runs to a team that hadn’t scored 10 runs in their previous 4 games combined. Pfaadt was only able to give the team 4 innings as he was not effective tonight at all. We are probably lucky the Giants only scored the 4 runs off Pfaadt honestly.

Joe Mantiply continued his streak of allowing runs in 6 consecutive appearances. As consistent as he has been for this team in the past, he simply is not a major league quality pitcher anymore and tonight may be the last time we see him in a Dbacks uniform. There is a rumor out there that Jameson may be on his way up thanks to a cryptic Instagram post, and if so, Mantiply would be the logical candidate to get rid of.

The starting pitching had been doing a better job as of late being more consistent, however Tuesday felt like a game we have seen far too often from this team in 2025 where the starter gets hit hard, the offense scores early and then goes ice cold for the middle innings, and the bullpen looks largely ineffective.
