The Heath of the moment shone in our eyes.
The other day a friend asked me if Bumgarner actually had a win for the D-Backs. Since last night we no longer have to check it, because Mad Bum got his first non-asterisk win for the D-Backs. He almost got a quality start as well, but hey, one thing at a time, people.
I hear you: “his FIP indicates he was a bit unlucky”…bla bla bla….if you don’t earn 20MM+ a year you get DFA’d for an ERA that almost hits double digits.
Two weeks on aaaand Bukauskas gets the call up. The concession stands at Chase Field don’t know much about service time but the D-Backs do.
Around The MLB
[Washington Post] The Nationals bet big on their veteran aces — and won. They might finally be paying the price.
Maybe you don’t want to exchange MadBum for Corbin, but perhaps Strasburg can appeal anyone?
“Just the consistent underperformance for me,” he said. “Felt like I wasn’t able to do it at a level that was acceptable for myself.”
[ESPN] Historic start for Shane Bieber as Cleveland Indians ace strikes out 13 in win over Cincinnati Reds
Fourth straight game with double digit Ks. Bieber has one more strikeout than Bumgarner, Weaver and Widener combined.
Kid has been having lots of fun and quite some early success this season as well with a 206 OPS+.
[MLB Trade Rumors] More injuries!
So many players hit the IL this season. Ronald Acuña Jr. had to leave the Braves’ game due to pain in his lower abdominal muscles and will probably hit the IL. The Chicago White Sox put starter Lance Lynn on the 10-day IL, and former D-Backs Starlin Marte will probably join a lot of other stars on the IL with an oblique strain. In the West, Buster Posey might require an IL stint while poor Chris Owings was transferred to the 60-day IL.
