Blown calls, ejections, air-mailed throws, surprisingly conservative base running, all coming together in such a way as for Arizona to stop its three-game skid.

Diamondbacks Survive Ejections, Lengthy Review to Beat O’s
Once again the Snakes had a rough start to the game as Merrill Kelly allowed Baltimore to plate two first inning runs. But then, the veteran right-hander settled in and largely cruised through the next five innings. He then took the mound for the seventh inning and the game became a circus. Kelly and Torey Lovullo would both be ejected. Lourdes Gurriel, Jr. would have difficulties with his throw home and the Orioles had difficulties directing traffic on the bases. In the end, the Diamondbacks ended their three-game skid with a 4-3 victory against their former cellar-dwelling mates, the Orioles.

McCarthy’s Hitless Streak Hurting Snakes
If last year taught Arizona fans anything, it should have been to have patience with struggling hitters. However, it is going to be very difficult for McCarthy to escape the axe if he doesn’t start to turn things around in a hurry.

Reynaldo Lopez Shut Down for 12 Weeks
That’s 12 weeks before he can even throw again. This marks an inauspicious moment for Atlanta’s feel-good story of last year. The reality is that he likely does not return to the mound until mid-August at the earliest.

New ‘Bucco Bricks’ Display on the Way
Wjile I can certainly think of worse ways Pittsburgh could have handled all of this, given that they have a highly paid public relations department, I have a hard time envisioning how it could have gone worse without breaking reality.
