Diamondbacks end grueling 16-game stretch with much-needed series win

“ I feel like we played decent,” shortstop Geraldo Perdomo said of the 16 games. “A lot of stuff going on with the pitchers, some with the hitters. We’re gonna find a way to go back to winning a lot more games in a row.”

“Some tough losses mixed in there,” Miller said. “Probably the toughest stretch we’ll have all year. … We’ve been playing quality baseball, still room for improvement. I know the bullpen, we want to do a better job securing wins. Defensively, offensively, once we all click, we’re gonna be a tough team to be beat.”

Marte’s 2 HRs help D-backs weather the storm of 16-game gauntlet

“I think this is one of the tougher stretches we’re going to play all season,” general manager Mike Hazen said. “And I feel like we held our own. I don’t know that we played our best baseball, but I feel like we held our own. And I feel good about that.”

Diamondbacks’ Torey Lovullo tossed vs. Giants, tells umpires they’re ejected

“I didn’t know how the third base umpire could be watching a fair-foul ball and then the throw get off and still see the obstruction, but he pointed to it and he had it. When I looked at them, nobody put their hands up and pointed obstruction. That’s why I thought they were were kind of inventing a call, but they got it right.”

Diamondbacks’ Ketel Marte exits early with stiffness after blasting 2 homers vs. Giants

“I feel good, just a little bit stiff,” Marte said, speaking through interpreter Alex Arpiza. “That always happens here in San Francisco with the climate. Up by four, it’s better just to kind of do this as a preventative measure.”

Diamonds in the rough: 30 of the best prospect finds — one for each team

D-backs: Yilber Díaz, RHP (No. 5)Twenty years old when he signed with the D-backs for $10,000 in February 2021, the Venezuela native may have been a late bloomer, but he’s become one of the most interesting arms in the system with a fastball that can touch 98-99 and a pair of solid breaking pitches in his low-80s slider and upper-70s curveball. Díaz’s control problems have ballooned at Triple-A in 2025, but he’s still part of the depth mix for the Snakes.

The Dutch-Scilly War lasted 335 years and had no battles or deaths. Spanning between 1651–1986, the war was a by-product of the English Civil War and the decision of the Dutch to side with the Parliamentarians over the Royalists. The Royalists had raided a few Dutch shipping vessels in revenge before fleeing to the Isles of Scilly. The Dutch turned up, demanding reparations from the Royalists, and when they didn’t pay up, declared war. But they decided to call it a day and go home pretty sharpish as they realized the Royalists didn’t have a penny to their names. The only thing is they never declared peace with the Isles and just completely forgot they were at war.

You may know them as the bunch of heroes that broke box office records with their movies. But “The Avengers” was also a group of Jewish assassins who hunted Nazi war criminals after World War II. They poisoned 2,283 German prisoners of war!

Ketchup was sold in the 1830s as medicine. In 1834, it was sold as a cure for an upset stomach by an Ohio physician named John Cook. It wasn’t popularized as a condiment until the late 19th century!
