Dave Parker, Hall of Famer and former MVP, passes away at 74

We are heartbroken to learn of the passing of Hall of Famer Dave Parker.
A legendary Pirate, Parker spent 11 years in a Pirates uniform, winning 2 batting titles, an MVP award and a World Series Championship in 1979.

As a “younger” fan, I had only really vaguely heard of him. I knew who he was, but that was about it. He seems to be a a player I would have liked to have seen in his prime. My condolences.
Elvis Andrus inducted into Rangers’ Hall of Fame

The heating effect of a high-power microwave beam was accidentally discovered when it melted a chocolate bar in 1945. Percy Spencer, an American self-taught engineer, was working on an active radar set when he noticed his chocolate melted in his pocket.
