The Diamondbacks essentially needed to go 10-2 over the last 12 games heading into the deadline. They started off strong, but now have those two losses and seven games to go.

Diamondbacks News

Offense, Bullpen Squander Strong E-Rod Outing
Instead of creating runs with chaos on the bases, Arizona’s offense created outs. Instead of holding the line, the bullpen was unable to hold the one-run lead they inherited when Eduardo Rodriguez gave them the lead after 19 outs.

Corbin Carroll Surprises Local High Schoolers with New Uniforms, Gear
Corbin Carroll surprised D-backs Nike RBI baseball and softball All-Star teams with new uniforms and gear before the players from 12 Arizona schools head to a regional tournament in Seattle this weekend.

Bullpen Stumbles in Crucial Loss
It was always a longshot that Arizona could play themselves back into the role of buyers at the trade deadline. Nights like last night are why. A solid outing from Eduardo Rodriguez was not enough as Arizona’s offense ran themselves into outs and the bullpen was unable to hold a one-run lead for eight outs.

Lovullo Discusses Ninth Inning Decisions After Tough Loss
Last night’s outcome is one of the few times this season I can think of where I was openly questioning the decision making processes being employed by Arizona coaching, especially with the game on the line and Arizona poised to salvage the win.
