After loss, Merrill Kelly reflects on future with DBacks as trade deadline nears
“There’s definitely been thoughts all day that this one could be the last one in a DBacks uniform — at least for now,” Kelly said after giving up two runs (one earned) in 6⅔ innings of a 2-0 loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates on Saturday, July 26, at PNC Park. I’m never going to rule out that this is the last one ever, just with how much this team means to me and how much home and the Valley mean to me and my family.”
Diamondbacks’ Offense Squanders Merrill Kelly’s Quality Start
Speaking about Kelly’s outing Lovullo said “I think he wanted to choke me for taking him out of the game at that point in time. But he did his job, and it was time for him to turn over the bullpen. He was attacking, he was just maneuvering the baseball. I think maybe fatigued a little bit in that last inning. He started to throw some balls, and that’s not him. But overall, I thought he did an unbelievable job. He never left the dugout” Lovullo said.

Merrill Kelly took a few minutes to soak it all in after the game.
If this was his last start with the #Dbacks, it was another vintage performance.

Diamondbacks Manager Reacts to Randal Grichuk Trade
“You get the call in the middle of the game, I’ve had it happen a couple times since I’ve been in pro ball, but it’s not anything you’re really prepared for. We had to get the news out to him and get him on his way to Kansas City,” Lovullo said.
……….
“I thanked him. I thanked him for his effort. I thanked him for his big moments. I thanked him for being patient with us. He wanted to play every day, but he had a role here, and he filled that role perfectly.
Diamondbacks send Randal Grichuk to Royals in latest deadline deal
“We feel like we are acquiring a power-arm reliever that is somebody that is going to be in our pen at some point this year and then down the line as well,” Hazen said of Hoffmann. “Continuing to try to acquire arms that are going to build out the pitching for today and beyond.”

Neptune stands out from the rest of the solar system because it was the first planet discovered by Urbain Le Verrier through mathematical prediction rather than an encounter.
