It took a while for Arizona’s bats to come to life, but it was all they could do to make up for the sub-par outing by Madison Bumgarner.
If the starters were left in the game, this might have been a 10-1 rout of the Diamondbacks. It’s funny just how much bullpens can change the course of a game. Arizona stormed back against a weak Seattle bullpen while somehow managing to have their own bullpen hold the game for three innings. Then the Manfred Mann came into play and ruined everything.
Madison Bumgarner allowed five runs through six innings, including allowing three balls to leave the yard. The offense took a while to get going, but they managed to tie things up in the seventh inning. Arizona was unable to execute in extras though, allowing Seattle’s Manfred Mann to score while not being able to push across their own.
I am most decidedly ready to be done with the stupidity that is the Manfred Mann. Please do not let it become a part of the game after the next CBA.
