Former Phoenix Rising striker Adam Jahn joins rival Orange County on loan

February 23, 2021 by ArizonaSports.com - 98.7 FM Leave a Comment

Former Phoenix Rising FC striker Adam Jahn is joining Orange County SC on loan for the 2021 USL Championship season.

Jahn will be joining OCSC on loan from MLS side Atlanta United FC, who bought the striker from PRFC in January 2020 for a reported $100,000. And although the transactions were separate, last season also saw forward Lagos Kunga on loan to Phoenix from Atlanta.

The 6-foot-3 striker made quite the impression in his lone season in the Valley.

In 31 appearances in a PRFC kit, Jahn scored 17 goals (tied for fifth-most in USL in 2019) and notched five assists on his way to being named to the USL Championship All-League First Team along with captain Solomon Asante.

Asante, Jahn and former Phoenix Rising forward Junior Flemmings went on to net a combined 54 goals that record-breaking season, crowning AJF as the deadliest attacking trio in league history.

Rising manager Rick Schantz has spoken at lengths about how high Jahn’s work rate was defensively and how important of a factor that was in signing striker Rufat Dadashov to replace him.

In fact, the new OCSC loanee had a clause in his contract while with Phoenix that gave him a bonus every time Rising earned a clean sheet.

“I am extremely excited with the addition of Adam,” OCSC manager Braeden Cloutier said in a press release. “He has proven at every level that he can score goals. He also brings a tireless work ethic on the defensive side of the game that I am very impressed with that will be a huge asset for the way we want to play.”

Jahn will also be returning to play for a club in his home state of California, as the Stanford graduate previously donned the shirts of the San Jose Earthquakes and Sacramento Republic.

Not only will he be joining one of Phoenix’s biggest rivals in Orange County, but OC now boasts an impressive attacking prowess following the signing of Chris Wehan over from New Mexico United this offseason in addition to getting Thomas Enevoldsen back. The Dane missed last season after deciding to stay home in Denmark due to the birth of his child during the COVID-19 pandemic.

However, OCSC will be without Aodhan Quinn in 2021, as the midfielder signed with PRFC in December.
