Here is what the two said about Allen’s extension.
Here is what Phoenix Suns guard Grayson Allen said about his four-year, $70 million extension following Tuesday’s practice at the Verizon 5G Performance Center.
On his contract extension with the Suns:
“It felt great. I signed it this morning, so yesterday when everyone was congratulating me, I was like, ‘I need to sign this thing first.’ But it felt great…very appreciative to be here in Phoenix.
“We couldn’t start talking about it until March. By then, it feels like the whole season feels like it’s gone by already.”
On signing the extension before the playoffs:
“I knew I wanted to be here. So that kind of out-weighed the fact of trying to wonder what’s out there. Mat, James and Josh gave me an offer that I felt like was worth it to wait and not wonder…I’m very happy that I’m here and that I’m going to be here a little longer.”
Frank Vogel:
On Allen’s extension:
“For me, first I want to just congratulate Grayson, Morgan (his wife). It’s well-deserved. This is what you want in this profession.”
On what Kevin Young, who agreed to a deal to become BYU basketball’s next head coach, has meant to the staff:
“We’re thrilled that he’s going to be with us through the duration. He’s going to help us compete for this championship, and he’s in the fight, he’s committed to that. So we’re thrilled about that. He’s done a great job with me. I think the Suns fans have to appreciate his contributions, obviously, beyond this year, with their Finals run and the teams they’ve had the last four, five years that he’s been here. He’s had a big factor in this franchise’s success. He was great for me, has been great for me throughout the course of this year.”
On Kevin Durant and Devin Booker:
“First-team. I don’t think I have to say anything more than that. First-team All-NBA, both those guys.”
