‘I’m a Wildcat for life!’
Turns out, Kerr Kriisa really missed being a Wildcat.
The former UA guard has landed at his third and final college team, committing to Kentucky on Wednesday with “I’m a Wildcat for life!” in his announcement post:
he 6-foot-3 Kriisa spent the 2023-24 season at West Virginia, where he averaged 11 points and 4.7 assists while shooting a career-best 42.4 percent from 3-point range. He only appeared in 23 games, having to sit out the first nine after being suspended by the NCAA for an impermissible benefit—reportedly, that he sold his season tickets—that occurred during this time at Arizona.
West Virginia went 9-23 under interim coach Josh Eilert, who took over the program last summer after Bob Huggins was fired following a DUI arrest. Kriisa briefly re-entered the NCAA transfer portal after Huggins’ dismissal before returning to the Mountainers, but after Eilert was not named the permanent head coach and West Virginia hired Drake’s Darian DeVries he was once again in the portal.
At Arizona, Kriisa started 70 of 76 games from 2020-23 and averaged 9.4 points and 4.7 assists while 35.2 percent from 3. He registered a pair of triple-doubles with the Wildcats, joining Loren Woods and Andre Iguodala as the only players in school history to achieve that feat multiple times.
Kentucky, under former BYU head coach Mark Pope, has already landed seven players out of the portal including guards Koby Brea (who hit 4 of 8 3s against Arizona in the second round in March) from Dayton and Lamont Butler from San Diego State.
