The Diamondbacks won a wild one on Tuesday night in a high-scoring, extra-inning affair. Time for the Diamondbacks to start climbing to higher heights and not messing about with mediocrity.

Tommy Henry had a nightmare of a start. Luis Frías was a trainwreck. Fortunately for Arizona, Miguel Castro had a terrific extended outing and the offense kept finding ways to trickle across runs.
Player of the Game Praise
In a game where the Diamondbacks were shorthanded in the bullpen, Miguel Castro tossed 2 1/3 scoreless innings in innings 7-9.

Diamondbacks Win Wild One with Walk-off
It isn’t often a team wins after the starter gets blown out of the water, especially when the bullpen is already taxed from extra-inning affairs. But, Miguel Castro and the offense were up tot he task on Tuesday night.

Diamondbacks Bounce Back Big, Even Series with Cubs
The second game of this series followed a similar script as the first, but the roles were reversed. Down to their final out, the Diamondbacks got a game-tying home run from Ketel Marte and would go on to walk off the Cubs the following inning, 12-11. It marked the D-backs first extra-inning win and first walk-off of the season.
Slade Cecconi Pitches Another Strong Outing in Reno
Arizona’s minor league affiliates wone three of four while Slade Cecconi worked on a two-pitch arsenal that allowed him to dominate yet another outing in Reno, keeping the pressure on the Arizona pitching staff to perform or lose out to a Cecconi promotion (which may need to happen soon with all the extra-innings games).
Arizona Injury Update
It’s never ideal to have multiple key players injured. However, Arizona is weathering the storm here, early in the season. If the team can stay healthy once some of these players return, things should really start looking up for Arizona.

It is somewhat telling about both organizations that the Angels make this list, despite having a sub-.500 record (picked to crash) and the Yankees make the list, despite their monster early success (picked to stay the course).

Despite the loss of Shohei Ohtani and the Angels’ inability to land any premium free agents this last winter, Mike Trout is still committed to winning – and he wants and expects to do it with the Angels.
